Your information is very important to us. It's key to what we do and without it, we don't work. So we take your privacy very seriously and are fully committed to protecting the personal information that you give us.
In today's world, when people use the web, mobile apps and connected devices, they generate large amounts of data. That data can be really useful to you but, until now, it has often be hard to find and even more difficult to track across different applications. But Tictrac solves this problem. We provide you with a really easy way to keep and access all this information in one place so that you can track, compare and analyse all the things that are important to you. You can add information by connecting to apps and services that you already use, and you can supplement this with information that you add directly to the Site. You can find out more about what we do here.
When you create an account on the Site (a "Tictrac Account"), we will offer you the opportunity to connect it to the accounts you hold with other third party service providers that we work with, like your social networking and your e-mail providers (our "Partners"). A full list of our Partners can be found here.
When you connect your Tictrac Account with an account held with one of our Partners (a "Partner Account"), we will import personal information you hold with that Partner in your Partner Account, to your Tictrac Account. Once you have done this, we sync any personal information that you create using your Partner Account with your Tictrac Account, as you create it.
Connecting in this way lets you track and compare your activities across multiple Partner Accounts. For example, you might want to compare details of your weight (held with, say, a Partner providing weight watching solutions) over a specific period with the distances you have run over the same period (and recorded with, say, another Partner providing fitness solutions). You can also compare information held in your Partner Accounts with extra information you choose to add to your Tictrac Account.
Remember - you can choose to connect your Tictrac Account with your account on all, a selection of, or even none our Partners – it's entirely up to you.
If you do choose to connect your Tictrac Account to a Partner Account, we will first tell you what personal information we will collect from that Partner Account. If you agree to our collecting this personal information, we will access your Partner Account and collect it, going back to the date on which you opened that Partner Account. If you continue to use that Partner Account, we will collect new personal information from it as you create it (even if you are not logged into your Tictrac Account or visiting the Site). We will do this until you tell us to stop (please see How can you edit, access or delete your personal information?). Just so you know, we collect information from your Partner Account as you create it so that we can make your use of Tictrac as fast as possible; if we only synched your Partner Accounts when you logged in to your Tictrac Account, you would experience significant delays in accessing your Tictrac Account and using our services.
When you use the Site, we may also collect and use the following information about you:
Certain information is considered "sensitive" under European law and has special protection. For these purposes, sensitive information includes any personal information about your racial or ethnic origins, political opinions, religious beliefs, trade union membership, health, sexual life, and any offences you have, or are alleged to have committed ("sensitive personal information").
We do not intentionally collect or process any sensitive personal information about you. However, if you submit sensitive personal information to your Tictrac Account or on the Site, or connect a Partner Account that hosts sensitive personal information about you to your Tictrac Account, then we will generally access this information to provide our services to you.
For this reason, you should only ever provide sensitive personal information to us or connect accounts that host such information to your Tictrac Account if you are happy for us to have access to it to provide our services. For the avoidance of doubt, if you give us, or give us access to, sensitive personal information, you are giving us your express consent to our processing it for the purposes of providing our services to you.
The information we collect from your Partner Account(s) may include personal information relating to other people, such as the people who email you, or whom you email, or to whom you are connected on social networking sites. It is your responsibility to inform these people that you are importing their details into your Tictrac Account and to ensure that they do not object to this. If they do, you must not import their details into your Tictrac Account.
We may offer you the opportunity to post, comment or exchange information on publicly accessible areas of the Site (for example, to post comments on news posts or to share the discoveries you make using Tictrac). You should exercise caution if you choose to disclose personal information such as your name or contact details when doing so, as this information may be accessible by the general public and indexed by search engines.
We use the personal information we collect from you to:
We may also generate, use and disclose aggregated and/or anonymised information and statistics about the Site for marketing and strategic purposes. However, no visitor will be individually identifiable from these aggregated and/or anonymised information and statistics.
Cookies are small text files that websites often store on computer hard drives or mobile devices of visitors to their sites. They are widely used in order to make websites work, or work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the owners of the site. You can find out more detailed information about what cookies are used on the Site, why they are used, and how you can control their use here.
In addition to cookies, we also collect other information that is automatically provided to us by your browser when you visit the Site. This may include your computer's IP address, operating system, log in times and browser type. We use this information to better understand how visitors use the Site and for internal reporting purposes.
We do not rent, sell or share personal information about you with other people or non-affiliated companies except to provide or improve the products or services you have requested, when we have your permission, or under the following circumstances:
We want you to feel confident about using the Site and we are committed to protecting the personal information that we collect. We limit access to personal information about you to employees who reasonably need access to it to provide products or services to you, or in order to do their jobs. We have appropriate technical and organisational measures in place to protect the personal information you provide to us against unauthorised or unlawful use and against accidental loss, damage or destruction.
You can edit the account information (such as your email address and password) linked to your Tictrac Account by accessing it via the 'Account' section of the Site. You can also use the project pages of your Tictrac Account to change which Partner Account(s) your Tictrac Account connects to. If you choose to stop a Partner Account connecting with your Tictrac Account, we will no longer collect personal information from that Partner Account for any project you have running on the Site. If you are using a Partner Account to track more than one thing and wish to disconnect that Partner Account completely, you must disconnect that Partner Account from each tracker it syncs with. For example, you may be using one Partner Account to track your runs and your weight with separate trackers (one for your running and one for your weight). Using this example, to completely disconnect your Tictrac Account from that Partner Account, you must disconnect the Partner Account on both the running and the weight tracker.
You may also use the Email Preferences section of your Tictrac Account to opt-out of receiving information about our products and services. Alternatively you can do this by sending us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note, however, that we will continue to send you service-related (non-marketing) communications.
You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information that we hold about you in our records, to correct any inaccuracies and to update any out-of-date information. Please write to us at the address listed below should you wish to do so.
You may close your Tictrac Account by contacting us at email@example.com. If you close your Tictrac Account, you can also request that Tictrac delete your personal information. Please note that if you do not request for Tictrac to delete your personal information, we will archive your personal information for the period permitted by law following account closure, but will keep your archived personal information secure and confidential throughout this period.
Please note that if you close a Partner Account that is connected to your Tictrac Account, we will not automatically delete the personal information that we have collected from it. To delete the personal information that we have collected from a Partner Account, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Site may also offer you the opportunity to share or follow information about the Site (or the products and/or services available through it) using third party social networking functionality (such as through “share this”, “like” or “follow” buttons).
We offer this functionality in order to generate interest in the Site among the members of your social networks, and to permit you to share and follow opinions, news and recommendations about the Site with your friends. However, you should be aware that sharing personal or non-personal information with a social network may result in that information being collected by the social network provider or result in that information being made publicly-available, including through internet search engines.
If you do not agree to these changes, please do not continue to use the Site.
The deluge of data shows no signs of dwindling: disruptive platforms like Tictrac could provide our rescue raft.
Tictrac makes self-hacking available to the masses... a real draw for fitness fiends.
